Most places show on the map as a price pin or their Nomling. A place with its own pixel building on the map pays for one of a few spots in its area, a small building or a Landmark. The price depends on how busy the area and the city are, never on who else is nearby. Because the business pays for it to be there, every paid building wears a small “AD” tag on the map, the map shows a key while one is in view, and tapping the place shows “AD · Paid building” at the top.
